This Privacy Policy explains how Framy ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you visit https://framy.video, use the editor, upload media, or request a video export. By using the service, you acknowledge this policy.

1. Who we are

Framy is a browser-based tool that places screen recordings inside iPhone device frames. The service is operated under the Framy brand. For privacy questions, use our contact form.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use Framy, we may process:

• Browser session identifier. A random session ID stored in your browser (session storage) and sent with API requests so we can associate your projects, uploads, and exports with your current session. We do not use this ID for cross-site tracking.
• Technical context. Basic client metadata such as page URL, language, and user-agent string, sent with API requests to operate and secure the service.
• Email address. If you start an export, we ask for an email address and store it with the export job record for operational and audit purposes.
• Uploaded files and project data. Videos, images, fonts, and editor state you upload or save (canvas layout, device choice, overlays, etc.).
• Export outputs. Rendered MP4 files generated from your projects.
• Server and security logs. IP address, request timestamps, and similar technical data generated by our hosting infrastructure, reverse proxy, and API (for example rate limiting and abuse prevention).

We do not require a password or formal user account in early access. Session-based access means projects and files are tied to your browser session unless you retain the project identifier.

3. How we use information

We use the information above to:

• Provide the editor, storage, preview, and export features you request
• Associate resources with your session and prevent unauthorized access to other users' files
• Process export jobs, deliver download links, and troubleshoot failed renders
• Protect the service against abuse, fraud, and security incidents
• Improve reliability, performance, and product quality
• Respond to support or legal requests you send us

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Legal bases (EEA / UK users)

Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on:

• Contract / service delivery — processing needed to provide the editor and export you use
• Legitimate interests — security, abuse prevention, and improving the product, balanced against your rights
• Consent — where you voluntarily provide an email for export or contact us
• Legal obligation — when we must retain or disclose data under law

5. Storage, hosting, and retention

Data is stored on servers and object storage operated by us or our infrastructure providers. Uploaded media and exports are kept in private storage buckets; access is mediated through our API with session checks and time-limited download mechanisms.

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required by law. Projects, uploads, and exports may be deleted after periods of inactivity or as we refine retention policies during early access. We may change retention practices as the product matures and will update this policy when we do.

6. Cookies and local storage

Framy uses browser session storage for the anonymous session identifier described above, and local storage to remember your cookie preference. Optional functional storage (for example landing-preview handoff) is only used if you allow it in the cookie banner. On the production site we load Google Analytics (gtag.js) and Microsoft Clarity to measure usage and improve the product; you can opt out via the cookie banner, after which we stop analytics storage. Local development builds do not load these scripts. We do not use third-party advertising cookies on the core product. You can reopen choices anytime via Cookie settings in the site footer. Standard server logs may use technically necessary cookies or similar mechanisms at the infrastructure layer.

7. Sharing with third parties

We may share information with:

• Infrastructure providers that host our website, API, database, and file storage (under contractual confidentiality and security obligations)
• Professional advisers or authorities when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and security

We do not share uploaded content with other users except as you direct through the product.

8. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our servers are located. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

9. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal data, and to data portability or withdrawal of consent. To exercise these rights, use our contact form. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

Because access is session-based, deleting browser storage or using a new browser session starts a new anonymous session; previously created project IDs may no longer be accessible from your browser.

10. Children

Framy is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data and we will take appropriate steps.

11. Security

We use technical and organizational measures such as encrypted transport (HTTPS), private object storage, access controls on API endpoints, and rate limiting. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes may be announced on the website or in the product. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acknowledgment of the updated policy.
