Turn a screen recording into a product demo video: trim to the core action, frame it in an iPhone shell, and export a clean MP4 free — no watermark, no subscription.

A raw screen recording and a product demo video are not the same thing. One looks like a capture; the other looks like something you'd put on a landing page or a store listing. The gap between them is small — trimming and framing — and this guide closes it in a few minutes.

What you need

  • A screen recording of your product
  • A browser to frame and export
  • A few minutes to trim

Step 1: Trim to the core action

The single biggest upgrade is cutting. Open in any basic editor (even the Photos app) and remove the launch, the loading, and the menu-hunting. A demo should open on something happening — the core action your product is for. Aim for 15–30 seconds.

Step 2: Decide where it's going

The destination sets the shape:

  • Reels, TikTok, Shorts, App Store preview — vertical 9:16
  • Website hero, YouTube — landscape 16:9
  • Feed post — 1:1 or 4:5

Knowing this now saves a re-export later.

Step 3: Frame it in an iPhone

This is what turns a capture into a demo. Open the Framy editor, drop in the trimmed clip, and it lands inside a real iPhone frame. Pick from 35 models to match your audience's device — the iPhone frame tool does it in the browser, no install.

Step 4: Set a clean background

A framed phone floating on a solid color or gradient reads as intentional. Dark app on a light background, or the reverse — contrast makes the device pop and keeps attention on the UI.

Step 5: Export clean MP4

Export High quality MP4, no watermark. The same framed clip can now serve as a Reel, a landing-page hero, and a tweet — one recording, many placements.

Tips that separate demos from captures

  • Lead with the payoff. Show the best moment first.
  • Cut ruthlessly. Every second that isn't showing value is a second someone scrolls away.
  • Keep text legible. Small UI labels vanish inside a phone frame on a phone.
  • One idea per clip. A demo that tries to show everything shows nothing.

When this approach wins

You don't need a motion-design suite to make a clean demo. Trim, frame, export — that covers the vast majority of product demos for social, stores, and landing pages. Save the heavy tools for cinematic launch videos.
